Since Trump’s election as President in the year 2016, many have been skeptical about whether it would spell disaster or success. Many Republicans have viewed him as a supporter to racism. Even his campaign rallies have attracted large crowds with its fare share of public controversy. Some of the events have been marked by incidents of violence between Trump supporters and protesters.
Donald Trump has a reputation of being a ruthless and unscrupulous businessman over the past few years especially through the TV show ‘The Apprentice’ through which he gained his fame. Most people expected his tenure to fail miserably with a majority of the US people being against him from the beginning of his campaign.
Trump’s most contradictory proposals were about issues of immigration. His outrageous proposals included the deportation of illegal immigrants, the construction of a wall on the Mexico and US border, his outlook on Mexican immigrants as criminals and drug dealers including a temporary ban on foreign Muslims entering the U.S. had already put him under scrutiny.
Trump throughout his candidacy spoke on most of his campaigns about having America’s best interests at heart. But nobody believed him. Since the day he took the Oval Office Trump has appointed big names to help him run the cabinet and advice him. Having spent some time in the White House, his inability to make major legislative changes has served as an indication that his presidency is failing.
But is it really failing?
Trump’s administration so far has delivered on most of the promises made during the campaign.
After implementation there has been a decline in illegal immigration. His most significant achievement has been the nomination and confirmation of Neil Gorsuch as a justice on the Supreme Court. This includes a rollback of a number of government policies put in place by previous presidents who came before him. Trump has also nullified the Obama-era gun control rule. The administration said it was getting rid of it because it could endanger the rights of law abiding citizens. To add to the administration’s success, a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying for foreign has also been implemented.
Taking all this into account, Trump’s first 100 days in office has proved to be quite successful despite claims by the Republicans and media that Trump has been unsuccessful.
